CHC52008 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management)

Case Managers work with individuals and families who are having a rough time in life. Disability, parenting in difficult circumstances, mental health problems, migration and relocation, addictions etc. can impact the capacity of people to cope and access the services that they need to live a happy life. Case Managers make a difference to people's lives. The Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) (CHC52008) is a nationally recognised award consisting of 16 Units of Competency. The course is designed to prepare you for case management roles in the community services sector. The course provides the skills and knowledge essential for effective communication, service coordination, networking, risk management, occupational health and safety as well as matters specific to case management.

Community Training Australia (CTA) is currently delivering the Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) in partnership with the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP) and as a graduate of this course you will be eligible to access a number of pathways into courses offered both by CTA and by ACAP. Entry Requirements
  • Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
OR
  • Aged 21 years and over and assessment of literacy skills to ensure equivalence to successful completion of Higher School Certificate or equivalent and to meet normal requirements for workplace reporting and record keeping.
OR
  • A Certificate IV qualification from either the Community Services or Health Training packages.

What do I need to do to enroll in this course?


As a part of the selection process for this course, you will be required to undertake a telephone interview, submit a written application and complete a language literacy and numeracy test.


When does the course run and what is involved?


Mixed Mode Training

The course will be run over four 5 day blocks in Townsville Queensland. In each block, students will complete practical activities and assessments where skills in working with individuals and families in case management will be developed. Power point presentations, reading materials, group yarning and practice sessions all make the learning fun and relevant.

 

In addition to the learning that you complete during the blocks you will also be required to complete readings and learning activities and assessment tasks back home. Our friendly and helpful tutors are available for support by phone or email.


Where is the training held?


Townsville Campus

 

Training is held in the beautiful newly refurbished Holiday Inn in the heart of the city located at 334 Flinders Street, Townsville on the 3rd Floor. The Holiday Inn has fantastic Indigenous decor from carpet to original artworks and comfortable beds. Indigenous students eligible for ABSTUDY are also accommodated at the hotel and enjoy quality food and 4.5 star service.

 

The Holiday Inn has a swimming pool on the 20th floor, guest laundry on the 18th and 8th floors and a 24 hour serviced desk. In addition guests have complementary gym access at Tropical Bodies. Across the mall is the famous Cowboys Leagues Club.


Indigenous students who are travelling with Abstudy have all food and accomodation provided.

Local students will be provided with morning and afternoon tea, but should bring lunch from home. There are also many coffee shops, cafes and supermarkets within close walking distance.
