Since the changes in Family Law which now includes compulsory mediation for those intending to go to court over issues such as child access or property division after a separation means that there is a new and large demand in the community for mediators. The Certificate IV in Mediation provides the first step towards becoming a professional mediator. Students with this qualfication can provide Mediation in the community immediately however those wanting to provide Mediation through the Attorney General's Department as a Family Dispute Resolution practitioner, will also need to complete the new Vocational Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution CHC80308. The Certificate IV in Mediation is being delivered through a partnership with Mount Isa Institute of TAFE which has subsidised fees for tuition.
